The Greatest Secret

I've been waiting a while to create this page, but the time is now ripe to do so.

Why the title of this page? Well, two reasons. Firstly, what I am about to share is the most profound discovery I have made (intellectually several years ago, but experiencially over the last 2 years) as well as being the title of a new book by Rhonda Byrne the author of the much acclaimed "The Secret"

The Secret is based on age-old principles which are reformulated somewhat for modern times. Collectively, they are often known as "The Law of Attraction"

The Law of Attraction is the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person's life. The belief is based on the ideas that people and their thoughts are made from "pure energy", and that a process of like vibration attracting like vibration exists through which a person can improve their health, wealth, and personal relationships.

This is a very basic way of describing it and if you want to know more, you can search for more information. However, I want to focus here on The Greatest Secret. The author was enjoying a very good life but was still not fully satisfied:

"After the release of The Secret in 2006, my life became what I can only describe as a dream life. Through practicing The Secret principles religiously, my mind had become predominantly positive, and so my life reflected that positive state in my happiness, health, relationships, and finances. I also found myself with a natural love and gratitude for everything in life.

But despite all of that, something inside me continued to urge me on to seek more of the truth; something propelled me to continue my search, though for what, I didn’t yet know."

She then happened upon teachings and teachers of various schools of what is commonly know as NonDuality or Nondualism.

The idea, or experience means that you don't have to "seek for enlightenment". Your True Nature is always present - it's who you really are! You are not your body, thoughts, sensations or emotions -  you are the awareness that is aware of all things / objects (which includes thoughts, sensations and emotions).

You are awareness itself!

Ask yourself this question, "What is the one thing I know for sure? What is the one thing that doesn't change?"

Awareness! You are aware that you are aware - you always have been, and always will be awareness itself.

All the objects that you perceive "out there" arise in and on Awareness itself.

When you actually experience this for yourself the effect is literally mind-blowing. Gradually as you question all thoughts, feelings, and sensations that arise in awareness, you realise that these are all concepts (collectively called "the ego" by most people).

Everyone is consciously or unconsciously seeking happiness, or inner peace - it's just that we usually look for these outside ourselves and believe that happiness can be arrived at through, for example the right relationship, job, more money. Unfortunately we seem to operate from a viewpoint of lack - nothing is ever enough for us.

Often when we feel this lack strongly we will turn to distracting activities: overeating, binge watching TV, overuse of Social Media etc. We use the distractions to avoid feelings of not lack rather than allowing these feelings to just be, and dissolve without resistance or attachment.

I have "been around the block" quite a few times now, being in my later years and having had a strong interest and involvement in many aspects of so-called 'self-improvement", consciousness groups, spiritual teachers etc. since my mid teens. I have finally dispensed with the need for any more additions to what was becoming an endless list of techniques and so-called knowledge!

The simplest and most effective way I have found of letting go of blocks to my True Nature is "The Sedona Method" created by the Lester Levenson (who is one of the teachers mentioned in  "The Greatest Secret".)

You can find many places on the internet which describe the very simple way of releasing that The Sedona Method offers.

There are a few "variations on a theme" but they all complement each other.
